Shorts in Winter

Top - Anthropologie.  Cardigan - Urban Outfitters.  Shorts - Forever 21.  Tights - Target.  Booties - Urban Outfitters.

I adore being on vacation - if there were a way I could make it a career, I would in a heartbeat.  I spent the last two weeks on vacation at home in my hometown with my family.  My dad took these pictures for me - while I would have loved for him to take more that I could have used for the blog, we were having too much fun celebrating the holidays.

Snapshots

Enjoying tea out of my monogramed Anthropologie mug now that the weather is getting chillier.

Light reading as a reward for finishing a huge term paper this weekend.

Incredibly comfortable Sam Edelman flats that I've been wearing non-stop.

Featured

Dress - Anthropologie.  Heels - thrifted Kate Spade.  Watch - Fossil.  Ring - The Little Dress Shop.  Necklace - Tiffany's.  Hoops - Nordstrom.

This dress is my newest favorite Anthropologie purchase; it happened to be on sale as a promo last week when I stopped by, and after trying it on and seeing how flattering it was, I bought it!  I wore it for the first time last night for Back to School Night at the elementary school where I'm doing my fieldwork currently.

Check out the feature on me wearing this dress on Career Bliss!  A friend of mine from high school works for the blog and was sweet enough to feature me this week.

Back to Blogging

Things that stress me out and make blogging next to impossible:

- moving
- graduate school
- inconsistent Internet
- not knowing where my camera is

Also, the reasons why I have been MIA for what feels like forever.  The move is complete, but it's been a very slow and stressful process.  Luckily, I love my new place and my new roommates, so that has made it bearable.  I started graduate school three weeks ago, which has been overwhelming, but my schedule is starting to even out, and I'm starting to adjust.  In the tech world, I found my camera, and I will finally have Internet tomorrow, which means no more driving around for Wi-Fi access or using the neighbor's spotty connection.  Yay!

A few snapshots of a little bit of fun that happened recently in spite of all the chaos:

Dress - Anthropologie.  Heels - Steve Madden.  Necklace - Francesca's Collection.  Ring - The Little Dress Shop.

What I wore to a friend's wedding this past Saturday.

My super cute wedding date.

The couple's wedding cake.  So beautiful and delicious!

A Little Bit Country

Top - Anthropologie.  Jeans - American Eagle.  Boots - Nordstrom BP.  Earrings - Lucky Brand.  Hat - from stall at the Salinas Rodeo.

Today was my first experience attending a rodeo!  I was lucky enough to have box seat tickets, so the experience was upfront and personal.  We had a huge lunch in the sponsor tent before hand, and then spent the afternoon watching the final events, including a bullfighting competition!  I was a little apprehensive going into the afternoon - I'm an animal rights activist - and I have to admit, though I was assured the animals are treated very humanely, I'm not sure if I'll attend another rodeo.  Still, it was a good experience and a real taste of Salinas, which is the city where I've been working since graduation.

The hat and boots - even though they aren't cowboy boots - obviously make the outfit, but I added the turquoise earrings for a little rodeo-esque flair.  I actually bought the corset top last December to wear for New Year's Eve, so I'm surprised and pleased that it worked out for this outfit, since I have very few rodeo appropriate clothing in my closet!

Just as a reminder, please consider learning about and contributing to the Anderson Relief Fund, which is for my friend Petra Anderson, a victim of the recent Aurora Colorado The Dark Knight Rises premiere.  You can find the information at the following link: Anderson Relief Fund.  Additional information can be found in my post from yesterday: For Petra.

Lust List

Currently listening to: Chambermaid Swing, Parov Stelar

Items I'm lusting after this week:

1. Anthropologie necklace
2.  Mango body scrub from The Body Shop
This stuff is magical.  I've gone without a body scrub for awhile and my skin is desperately needing exfoliation, so I'll be picking some up soon for sure.
3. London Fog Chelsea Lites luggage
I picked up a new set of luggage this week, one more in my price range, but it took a lot of will power to not buy several of these pieces!
4. Strawberry lemonade tea from Teavana
5. Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses
How fun are these?

My computer crashed this week, so I've had several logistical issues with blogging.  This post has been in draft form for several days and deleted itself four times last night while I was working on it; so frustrating! I'm hoping all the technical issues will work out soon so I can post again soon.

Thank you for all the supportive comments!  You're all wonderful, and I appreciate all your feedback.

Breezy Day

Top - Windsor.  Skirt - Anthropologie.  Heels - Michael Kors.  Earrings - Anthropologie.  Watch - fossil.  Bracelet - gift from grandmother.  Earrings - Anthropologie.

Today was on the cooler side and breezy; I ended up needing to add a cardigan to my outfit when I went to work.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather warms up for the upcoming weekend.

This skirt is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe.  It's the perfect length for when I need to wear something professional, and the color is gorgeous.  I usually pair it with nude heels or wedges, but today I though the leopard print would be a nice touch.

P.S. How great is Miran's photography?  I love working with her!

It's Easy Wearing Green

Top - Anthropologie.  Pants - Gap.  Jacket - Forever 21. Heels - Kate Spade.  Bag - Anthropologie. Scarf on bag - gift from grandmother.  Necklace- Tiffany's. Watch - Fossil.  Ring - Kay.  Bangles - thrifted.

Currently listening to: Green Jay, Christina Courtin

As fate would have it, one of my new summer roommates has a kick-ass camera, a knack for photography, and has sweetly offered to help me out with taking some pictures for my burgeoning blog!  I'm beyond excited to work with her and loving the pictures she took for me this evening after work.  Thank you, Miran! You'll be seeing more of her work in the days to come.

My Anthropologie tote I ordered came in the mail last week, and I've been carrying it around non-stop.  It's incredibly roomy, and I love the mixing of prints and futuristic looking silver trim - as well as the fact that I got it on sale!
